Super-Parys does it again!!!

Only a week after destroying the best of Europe’s triathletes, Parys Edwards adds another gold medal to her collection by winning the English Duathlon Champs at Ashbourne. Not only winning her age group, but fastest female overall by nearly 4 mins (again!)

Congratulations Parys, you’re an absolute superstar!

2012 Quarter 1

2012 so far

It is hard to believe that the year has got away from me and I have not updated my blog. Well here goes for the year to date, what I can remember for the first quarter.

Ironman, whilst no races yet, I have been working with a number of athletes and Ironman season is almost upon us. Currently working towards Port Macquarie, Lanzarote, France, Cairns. Regensburg & UK with a number of athletes

Huskisson 2012, this was another great weekend of racing with a number of improved times over last year, the most notable was Steve who improved by around 45 min and dished out a good lesson to the coach in the process.

Races that have been used to monitor progress towards ironman are Batemans Bay Ironman 70.3 Singapore and Ball Buster duathlon. All results showed that Ironman preparations are on track.

Sydney ITU, a great race in my home city which included a good number of participants from swim and run squad and NSTC. We also formed a Trifocus team entry about 36 hours from race start, with the aim of participating and having some fun. What a brilliant race and background, highly recommended to do this race.

Parys is back in fine form, with solid performances, so far results are 1st in age group Thames Turbo Sprint (2nd female), 1st Clumber Park Duathlon and an outright win in the South Devon Coastal Trail run (10k), yes that is right she beat all the males too (great work) Emma also took out 2nd place female in the half marathon at the same event.

Swim squad continues with a plenty of solid training going on, with a couple of sets focussed on maximising distance in the hour.

Run squad, commenced in January and is growing steadily. As usual regular attendees are already posting good run improvements

CanToo, Mac Uni pod has grown this year starting with 40 participants preparing for SMH half marathon, it is great to be a part of this group as they achieve key milestones building towards their goal race, it is hard to believe we only have 2 more long runs to finish our build phase.

Keep training hard and remember what doesn’t break you makes you!

London Duathlon

As per usual I am a bit behind on updating great race performances.

Eleanor raced the London Duathlon in September finishing a very brilliant 3rd in age group and 13th femaleoverall. This was a good way to finish the season having trained hard all year, fininshing her first half ironman and consistent performances at Olympic.

Parys Wins Gold at European Duathlons

Hot off the press, Parys has won her age group in the European Duathlon championships 2010 held in Nancy France. Still waiting for official results but have been advised she achieved 4th place overall and won her age group by a margin of around 3 minutes. Splits show a blistering pace with 36:30 (10k run), 1:05 (40k bike) and 18:+ (5k run)

Well done to Parys, a just reward for hard training, looking forward to a race report from Parys

Stirling Univeristy Duathlon

Parys headed up to Scotland for the weekend to race the Scottish Duathlon champs at Stirling University Duathlon. This race is also a British Triathlon qualifying race for the Duathlon World Champs being held in Edinburgh later this year.

Parys’s sole objective at this race was to obtain her qualifying place for the world champs. The field also comprised of a number of Elite racers including Catriona Morrison the current ETU Duathlon European Champion and hence focussing on the main priority in such a tough field was difficult.

In Parys’s own words the race was the hardest race she has ever done, with an incredibly tough run and unrelenting head wind on the bike. However it is the result that counts. As anticipated first female was Catriona Morrison and Gillian Palmer was second. Parys rounded out the top 3 female finishers overall in a time of 2:08:31 and has booked her place onto the GB age group team for the world champs. Great result. Parys now turns her attention to the ETU duathlon champs in May 2010.

Parys takes Silver at European Duathlon Championships

Parys takes Silver at European Duathlon Championships

I am slightly behind on the news! Full congratulations to Parys who took a Silver medal in her age-group & third overall at this year’s ETU Duathlon Chamionships, held in Budapest in May 2009.

Parys had been focussed on this event for some time and the result was a just reward for her consistent hard work ethic and commitment to her training.

Parys, then returned home raced the following weekend & won Crystal Palace Triathlon, great way to start a season.
