Run Training Quarter 2 2019. 

The program will run for 8 weeks commencing on Thursday 28 March 2019 Training will be held at St Ives Showground (Mona Vale Rd St Ives) from 3:30pm – 4:15pm each Thursday. The training program will run weekly (excluding School Holidays) finishing on 30th May 2019.

We are also registered as an accredited Active Kids Provider and able to accept your $100 voucher as part of the total payment. Click here to apply for your voucher from Active Kids. If you want to use an Active Kids Voucher you need to have the voucher ready and available at the time of making your booking.

The focus of the training is to prepare children for both Cross Country and Middle Distance running events (ie 800m and above). The training will comprise of technique, intervals and endurance work to assist each participant in preparing for their chosen running events.

Places will be limited and participants will be required to register for the full block of training. The cost will be $132 for the 8 week program (if you use your Active Kids Voucher total cost and payment by you is $32). Registration is essential. Frequently Asked Questions

What Age is the squad for? the minimum age is 8 and children attending primary school (If younger or not in primary school please call or email to discuss their current skill level).

Running – We will be running within the grounds and all participants will be required to wear running shoes that are in good condition.

What if my child cant keep up? There is no requirement to keep up. We will be running intervals or loops where each participant can run at their own pace and complete the number of repetitions that are suitable to their fitness and requirements.

Essential Equipment / Attire for all sessions includes. Water Bottle, Sunscreen (applied), T-Shirt (no singlets), Run Shorts or Tights , Socks, Running Shoes and Cap (optional).

Preparation for training, participants should focus on hydration (this should be daily), but particularly on training days ensure they are drinking water throughout the day. Also as it is straight after school a piece of fruit like a banana or apple could be eaten 30 minutes prior to training to keep energy levels high.

What if it is Raining? the training sessions will continue. In the event of extreme bad weather (storms) the training may need to be adapted to accommodate. If it is viewed that it is not safe to train then we may have to cancel training at the venue. Unless you are advised always assume that training is on.

Can I use the ‘Active Kids’ voucher towards this training? Yes we are registered as an Active Kids Provider and accept vouchers as part of your total payment.

Can I join the the program mid season? Entry once the program has commenced will be subject to availability.

Can I cancel? No cancellations all participants are required to sign up for the full program.
