We run Kids Run Training is held all year round. Thursday squad at Hassall Park St Ives 4:15 – 5:15pm. All squads are in the St Ives area. For Wednesday squad please contact to enquire about availability.

Run Training Term 2 2024. 

In term 2 squads will resume on Thursday 2 May 2024.

NB Covid-19 Safety Plan will be practiced and adhered to.

The focus of the training is to prepare children for Middle Distance running events (ie 800m, 1,500m and Cross Country), There are also other flow on benefits from improved fitness, physical literacy that also flow into other sports. The training will comprise of technique, intervals and endurance work to assist each participant in preparing for their chosen sports.

Places will be limited and participants will be required to register for the full block of training. The cost will be $160.00 for the 8 week program. Early Bird price of $150 if enter by Thursday 25 April 2024. Registration is essential. Registration can be accessed via the links at the top and bottom of this page. Frequently Asked Questions

What Age is the squad for? the squad is for all ages, we do like assess suitability for younger children aged 6 – 8 years. (If in infants school please call or email to discuss suitability).

Running – We will be running on various terrains and all participants will be required to wear running shoes that are in good condition.

What if my child cant keep up? There is no requirement to keep up. We will be running intervals or loops where each participant can run at their own pace and complete the number of repetitions that are suitable to their fitness and requirements.

Essential Equipment / Attire for all sessions includes. Water Bottle, Sunscreen (applied), T-Shirt (no singlets), Run Shorts or Tights, Socks, Running Shoes and Cap (optional).

Preparation for training, participants should focus on hydration (this should be daily), but particularly on training days ensure they are drinking water throughout the day. Also as it is straight after school a piece of fruit like a banana or apple could be eaten 30 minutes prior to training to keep energy levels high.

What if it is Raining? the training sessions will continue. In the event of extreme bad weather (storms) the training may need to be adapted to accommodate. If it is viewed that it is not safe to train then we may have to cancel training at the venue. Unless you are advised always assume that training is on.

Can I join the the program mid season? Entry once the program has commenced will be subject to availability.

Can I cancel? No cancellations all participants are required to sign up for the full program.
