June 2012 Race Roundup

As usual I am slow to update my blog with race updates, fortunately people’s race times are much faste. the following is some great results for June.

Switzerland 70.3 Parys finished a credible 4th in age and bagging a slot to Vegas 70.3 in the process. Not sure if the credible part was starting the race ill and then declaring the race as some of the darkest moments ever experienced in a race, a lesson learnt is to never race when unwell ever again!

Ironman Regensburg, Richard took on his maiden Ironman and literally hit every target we had set finishing with a sub 11hour (10:54), a superb effort and definite evidence of you reap what you sow (training) on race day. Richard had trained methodically and diligently over the last 8 months for this with a brilliant result

UK 70.3, rated as the toughest 70.3 on the circuit Em and Chris took this race on. Em’s goal was a slot to Vegas 70.3 and having spent a fair amount of time unwell, this was a case of being the first major hit out for the season (definitely not what was planned). Em was absolutely on fire and not only claimed a spot for Vegas 70.3 but took out 2nd place in age too, absolutely ecstatic and can’t wait to see her race with an uninterrupted block of training. Chris’s goal was quality race time in preparation for Ironman UK having only completed the London Marathon some 6 or 7 weeks prior. Chris ran a good steady race as planned and finished 8th in age showing that we are progressing well to Ironman UK

TriStar 111 a last minute race slot saw Stuart head over to France for TriStar 111 Deauville for a spot of race practice, looking at the race and current training decided it was a chance to really nail the run, achieving 14th in age group and one of the faster run splits in the age group.

Awesome training and racing everyone looking forward to the next batch of results

Parys Wins English Duathlon Champs – Ashbourne

(from http://www.fulontri.com)

Super-Parys does it again!!!

Only a week after destroying the best of Europe’s triathletes, Parys Edwards adds another gold medal to her collection by winning the English Duathlon Champs at Ashbourne. Not only winning her age group, but fastest female overall by nearly 4 mins (again!)

Congratulations Parys, you’re an absolute superstar!

and here is the link to Triathlon England race report

ETU Champs 2012

On Friday 20 April, the ITU held the European champs in Eilat Israel.

I am absolutely delighted to report that Parys competed in the Standard Distance and not only achieved her goal of Gold in her age group, but was the fastest female age grouper overall by a clear 4 minutes! no doubt this medal will sit nicely alongside her gold from the duathlon 2 years ago. Well done Parys awesome result

2012 Quarter 1

2012 so far

It is hard to believe that the year has got away from me and I have not updated my blog. Well here goes for the year to date, what I can remember for the first quarter.

Ironman, whilst no races yet, I have been working with a number of athletes and Ironman season is almost upon us. Currently working towards Port Macquarie, Lanzarote, France, Cairns. Regensburg & UK with a number of athletes

Huskisson 2012, this was another great weekend of racing with a number of improved times over last year, the most notable was Steve who improved by around 45 min and dished out a good lesson to the coach in the process.

Races that have been used to monitor progress towards ironman are Batemans Bay Ironman 70.3 Singapore and Ball Buster duathlon. All results showed that Ironman preparations are on track.

Sydney ITU, a great race in my home city which included a good number of participants from swim and run squad and NSTC. We also formed a Trifocus team entry about 36 hours from race start, with the aim of participating and having some fun. What a brilliant race and background, highly recommended to do this race.

Parys is back in fine form, with solid performances, so far results are 1st in age group Thames Turbo Sprint (2nd female), 1st Clumber Park Duathlon and an outright win in the South Devon Coastal Trail run (10k), yes that is right she beat all the males too (great work) Emma also took out 2nd place female in the half marathon at the same event.

Swim squad continues with a plenty of solid training going on, with a couple of sets focussed on maximising distance in the hour.

Run squad, commenced in January and is growing steadily. As usual regular attendees are already posting good run improvements

CanToo, Mac Uni pod has grown this year starting with 40 participants preparing for SMH half marathon, it is great to be a part of this group as they achieve key milestones building towards their goal race, it is hard to believe we only have 2 more long runs to finish our build phase.

Keep training hard and remember what doesn’t break you makes you!
