Red Shield Ride Day 1

The journey has begun. After a nice breakfast with family and supporters at the SCG, we said our farewells, completed a few laps of the SCG and then started our ride. Spirits were high and plenty of smiles and enthusiasm. The weather was perfect too.

It was very stop start through Sydney with all the traffic lights and we were glad to enter the National Park at Audley south of Sydney. We were also very lucky as there was back burning in progressing and fortunately the smoke was blowing away from us. It is always a marvellous view at Stanwell Tops and today did not disappoint and riding over scenic bridge is just as spectacular. We arrived at Wollongong for a well earned lunch and coffee and then then made the final journey to Kiama.

Today’s ride was 130k with 1,400m of climbing. Thanks for the donations and keep them coming in, I am getting closer to my fundraiser goal, please help me achieve my goal before I get to Melbourne.

A great first day, time to recover and get ready for day 2. #RedShieldRide #RedShieldAppeal

Red Shield Ride Day 0

I think I am packed and have everything I need. We have been told to pack light but to have gear for every weather types and casual clothes, nutrition, foam rollers, spare tyres, tubes, brake pads and canisters. The bag is not very light.

I have spent the last few days stressing where I worry about any muscle twinge or if I sneeze but I think I am ready and ready to go tomorrow Monday 29th April for Day 1.

I am $1,500 short of my fundraising target that means that I need to raise just over $1 for every kilometre that I cycle over the next 10 days. Or think of it this way 15 donations of $100 or 30 donations of $50. Every little bit helps so please give what you can and help me support The Salvos.

Hopefully you can follow me over the next 10 days of this exciting journey and challenge.

Red Shield Ride 2019

I am privileged to be riding from Sydney to Melbourne starting on Monday 29th April 2019. I use the word privileged as this word aptly describes why I am doing it. I am raising funds for The Salvation Army who support so many in our community who do not share the same privileges as me. You can donate to my ride here.  I am going to try really hard to post a daily update on this page of my progress. If you know me this will be a challenge in itself.

This is our ride itinerary. I look forward to the journey, cycling through this beautiful country that we live in, meeting fellow cyclists, the sore legs and backside. Thanks to everyone who has supported me. #RedShieldRide #RedShieldAppeal

Kids Tri Training

20181121_161821 (2)

In 2018 we started a kids Tri Training program during the summer terms. We did focus on developing skills, technique and fitness, but I think the smiles on the kids faces every week at training says that we also had lots fun (Parents are happy too seeing their kids being active). These squads are being run again in 2019, with the first session starting on Wednesday 30 January 2019. Please refer to our Kids Tri Page for entry and further details. Come along and join in on the fun.

“If you are comfortable with your training regime then you should be concerned. You can only make the big gains by being out of your comfort zone.”
