World Champion Photos

A picture says a thousand words, so here is 4 thousand words, courtesy of the 2013 ITU Female age group Olympic distance triathlon champion. I am still in awe of how hard Parys trains and pushes herself, a true champion in every sense of the word and the nicest most encouraging person you could ever meet.

Orientering – London

Not content with racing a Sprint and Olympic distance tri’s on the previous weekend, Barbara decided to make the most of London and enter the London Ultra Sprint and London City Races on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Please to report that in both races she won her category and being a good 3min margin in the London City Race. That is 4 good race performances in 9 days, I think it must be time for a short rest. Along with Barbara’s great results the family participated too and all achieved very good placings in their respective races.

Blackmores Running Festival 2013

Sydney put on its absolute best day yesterday for the Blackmores Running Festival conditions relished by all the runners who also gave it their best.

Over the last number of weeks a number of keen runners from Qantas have been attending early training sessions prior to work to prepare for this event. As part of their commitment to the training they have also been raising funds for Act for Kids a charity who works tirelessly to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect.

It was evident that all runners were fully prepared and fit for their event with a display of strong running all the way to the finish. Well done team it has been great to train with you as you prepared for your race.

ITU World Champs London2013

The 2013 ITU final was held in London over the weekend. This event also hosted the age-group world championships for both the Sprint and Olympic distances.

I am very proud of some brilliant results. A result that just puts me in total awe and say she is nothing but awesome. Parys absolutely destroyed the field and not only won her age group by a considerable margin, but was the fastest female age grouper overall. It has been an absolute privilege to work with Parys over the last 5 years leading to this result. Having seen her work through highs and lows over this time and always coming back stronger each season is inspirational. A result of unrelenting dedication and perseverance to keep working to achieve her best.

Barbara decided that one race wasn’t enough so competed in both the sprint and Olympic distances. Achieving a 7th and 9th place respectively in her races. It was a very competitive field with none other than the Sydney 2000 gold medallist winning both of these events. In both events Barbara was the first Australian home in her age group. A brilliant result in her first season of tri. and Dwyn competing in her first world champs event placing 39th. Another result to be proud of in only her second season of tri, I know both of these ladies will be achieving greater results in future seasons.
