1 to 1 coaching

These plans are tailored specifically to the individual triathlete working towards 1 or 2 ‘A’ races in a season. Ideally we need a minimum of 6 months to train & prepare for a race, however a plan of 12 months is optimum, enabling the correct base training to be put in place prior to peaking for you chosen event. All 1 to 1 plans consist of a macro plan being prepared in consultation with the triathlete, this plan is then broken down into meso cycles (typically 3 – 5 week periods), with a detailed weekly training plan issued. One critical aspect that is key to success in being coached is not just the training, but feeding back all aspects of training or lifestyle to me (your coach). With 1 to 1 plans I am available as & when to the triathlete either via telephone, skype (including video) or email and I encourage regular communication.

Generic plans

Not everyone wants detailed coaching, but would like a plan & access to a coach. I can supply generic training plans to assist you with your racing, these plans are not as intense as 1 to 1 coaching and issued with each meso. I am also available each week for a consultation either via telephone, skype (including video) or email and like 1 to 1 plans I encourage regular communication.

Corporate Training

Is your company competing in a corporate triathlon? Do you want to ensure that you are at the top of your field not only in business but in triathlon as well? I can complete a training plan specifically for the event & for your team. This will be similar to the generic plans, with all athletes encouraged to contact me individually regarding their training and progress. Depending on requirements I can also provide seminars or training sessions for your team.

Race Specific Plans

Race organisers do you want to offer your competitors a training plan for your race? Like the generic or corporate training I can compile a plan for your race and your competitors. There are many different ways to structure such coaching and I am willing to discuss your requirements and tailor the coaching and offer to your requirements.

Swim Video Analysis

Either individually or in small groups, I can compile a video analysis session which includes footage of swimmers individually both above the water line and under the water for a comprehensive analysis of your swimming stroke. This can be completed at any swimming pool providing specific permission to video is granted.

Triathlon Experience

I encountered the triathlon world in 1996 by taking part in a corporate sprint triathlon and was very quickly addicted to the sport. Since my first triathlon I have completed all major distances from Sprint to Ironman, having completed 7 Ironman events to date. In addition to triathlon I have also completed marathons and participated in many cycle sportives (including Etape du tour). I am based in the Northern Suburbs of  Sydney Australia, and lived in London from 2001 – 2009 providing me with experience & knowledge of triathlon events in Australia, UK and Europe. I am currently a member of both the Northern Suburbs Triathlon Club (NSTC) in Sydney and Ful-On Tri club in London

I commenced coaching with the Ful-On Tri club in London in 2005 and during this time I completed level 2 Certificate in Coaching Triathlon with British Triathlon. This course is certified by the UKCC and recognised by the ITU. I was awarded the Coach of the Year in 2008 by British Triathlon for the London region and in 2007 was awarded the Zurich Club Member of the year at Ful-on Tri club. The Zurich award is for a volunteer and marks their contribution to the club, in my case coaching.

Up until 2008 I worked in the corporate world for a large multi national property company, where I worked for 19 years and last held the position of Financial Controller. I therefore understand the art of juggling (or balancing) work, family, social and triathlon into one and also appreciate that triathlon does not always sit at the top of that tree, but the fact that people are striving to achieve their maximum potential in all of these aspects, so a carefully thought out and considerate plan that fits into the athletes lifestyle and demands is required.

In attaining my lvl3 coaching certificate I coached 3 athletes during the 2008 season with one athlete aiming for Ironman 70.3 races and the other 2 athletes competing at the Standard distance world champs for GB in their age group. All athletes either met or exceeded their goals for the 2008 season.
